1965 Airstream Globe Trotter 20’ Land Yacht Trailer
Oh, the memories! 1965 Airstream Globe Trotter 20’ Land Yacht. My Dad and Mom purchased this Airstream from the first owners in 1972, for their retirement adventures across the United States, Canada and Mexico. When I inherited it from them in 1995, there were decals all over the windows from everywhere. Our family has such good memories with the grand kids sitting around many a camp fire, fishing at the lake and new adventures every summer with Grandpa and Grandma.
It’s time now to part with the Land Yacht full of great memories. We’ve had 47 years with many a birthday celebration, anniversaries, graduations and special times with our parents and all the grand kids camping. The Airstream has been a thrill to own and always gets noticed when on the road. We took her on her last trip this summer with another generation of grand kids. We want the Airstream to go to a good home.
Weight: 2,980lbs Length: 20’ 8” Width: 96” Height: 106” or 8’ 10”
Original purchase date: September 4th, 1965
We have the original Airstream owner’s manual with the first owners name and address typed into the introduction page. It’s like a piece of history. I have all the receipts from everything that has been purchased for repairs. This file also contains the owner’s manuals with diagrams for everything that is in the Airstream.
My Dad and Mom were very active in the Wally Byam Caravan Club and held the position of president at one time when the Airstream Rally was held in Long Beach in 1978. I have pictures of 1000’s of Airstreams at that rally.
It is mostly all original. We replaced the tile floor with a pebble pattern that’s very unique. We replaced the front skylight with solid metal so that the sun would not shine through when you’re trying to sleep in. We replaced the whole dump station assembly along with some plumbing. Relatively new hot water heater. Four-in-one 10/1.5 amp battery charger and tester, and marine battery.
Original gas/electric refrigerator, propane heater, cook stove with oven, toilet, sink and shower all included in the bathroom area, spacious dual teak closets in the back by the bath, couch makes into double sleeper, storage everywhere, all the original teak.
When my sister went off to college, my dad built a counter with cupboards and drawers where the middle bunk was. That could easily be taken out and a mattress put back in.
My dad had the aluminum exterior polished once but has not been polished since I’ve owned it for the past 20 years. The skin has some blemishes but nothing major. It has been in the Las Vegas area most of the time. It’s now in Oregon.
The hitch assembly comes with dual sway bars and the wiring harness for the braking system. The trailer is being sold in “as is” condition, all sales are final, no returns and no refunds.
