35MM film is known for its rich colors and smooth grain, providing a unique aesthetic that many photographers cherish. Many photographers and filmmakers prefer the organic look of film, citing its depth and emotional quality that digital often struggles to replicate.
35mm film is 36mm x 24mm. The bigger, the better, whether a sensor or film.
A Nikon (DX Format) digital camera has a sensor of 28.21mm (23.5mm x 15.6mm).
A Nikon (FX Format) digital camera has a sensor that is the equivalent of a 35mm film.
FX or equivalent cameras are $$$$.
Canon AE-1 "Program" refers to the Programmed Auto Exposure mode (automatically selects both the shutter speed and the aperture for correct exposure) that Canon added when they released this successor to the original AE-1 in 1981. This was a step beyond the original AE-1, which only offered shutter-priority AE (you set the shutter speed, the camera set the aperture). All you need to do is focus.
It's records vs CD, vintage stereo receivers vs digital receivers and so on. This camera is a nice addition to a digital camera for those extra special photographs.
35mm film is widely available in all varieties and processing can by done by mail, or process the film yourself. Its a great hobby. There is plenty of information on the internet about this wonderful camera and film processing.
Once you have the negatives, there are lots of software that inverts the negative once scanned by a printer/scanner and sent to your computer.
Lenses for the Cannon AE-1 Program is the Cannon FD Mount, widely available and inexpensive.
