This guitar to me is absolutely gorgeous, it has aged perfectly with textbook checking. These are the types that Tom Murphy would use as an example to strive for, it really doesn't get any better than this one. This particular '63 is the one to have because it was made in the latter part of '63, which means by then they had already brought back that perfectly shaped neck that everyone is on the hunt for, also it is the first time these were referred to as the SG and it has a Victoria hardshell case instead of the early cardboard gator case. '63 is also the first year for the compensated stop tail bridge on these. The later '63's are definitely the ones to have. I can't can't tell enough how perfect this neck is in your hand, all the way up and down. Because the neck tenon is allowed to span all the way down to almost the bridge pickup without integral interruption from where the neck pickup would be the Jr.'s are also the most stable of SG's in terms of the neck joint, which is a huge issue on these. This neck is perfect with no breaks or repairs, which is unheard of on a '63. The Jr.'s are also extremely featherweight and ill get it on the scale when I get to my shop later to post the weight. This guitar is by far the most resonant solid body and acoustically the loudest guitar I've ever played, its just alive! I'm happy to answer any questions, thank you for looking.
