We are looking for someone who is able to lead tours at the park and also help with animal care duties (feeding/cleaning & getting cats out/locking them down).
Tour guides will need to memorize a script and lead large groups of people through the park (outdoors), introduce them to every cat and teach them about each species. Tours are about 90 minutes long, guides must memorize the script, learn about and share knowledge of each species, speak loudly, clearly to large groups, manage time/length of tours, and offer each cat a treat/s to lead them up to the front of the enclosure so they are clearly visible to the guests. Guides will also stand up some cats on two legs (tigers, leopards, jaguars) and feed them a treat through the fence using tongs. Guides may also need to cut their own "meat treats" to use during tours, and will be handling raw meat (gloves are provided). Guides will be outside so must be able to tolerate the summer heat and sun.
Zookeepers will help with feeding cats which includes- labeling diets (bowls/buckets), cutting and handling raw meat (gloves are available), adding vitamins to diets, placing food in cats enclosures and shifting cats between enclosures, unlocking/locking enclosures (clips and padlocks), lifting meat/heavy buckets, working with dangerous animals. Zookeepers will also clean and maintain enclosures which includes scooping poop, cleaning water bowls, raking rocks, cleaning palettes/platforms with hose, scrubbing boards when soiled, adding and replacing straw in dens, and cleaning urine out of dens. Zookeepers will also be switching cats between enclosures (into display enclosures in the morning, then back to "lock down" enclosures after park hours) this requires pulling and clipping heavy metal guillotine doors.
Previous animal care experience is not required, as we can train you and teach you all that you need to know. Looking for dedicated and motivated workers who are hoping for long term employment.
