I have good quality scion wood available for grafting fruit trees. I collect it in January and keep it moist, wrapped and cold in a dedicated garage refrigerator. I will be doing my own grafting this month (April). Beyond my own needs, specific varieties I can share with friends, local gardeners, and hobby orchardists are:
APPLE; Akane, Ashmead's Kernel, Bramley, Cox’s Orange Pippin, Esopus Spitzenburg, Golden Harvey, Rubinette.
PEAR: Paragon (a little-known but highly regarded variety developed at our local Agricultural Experiment Station).
PLUM: Reine Claude Doree (a green gage plum).
The fruits of the above varieties are not normally found in supermarkets. You can find descriptions of these varieties on the internet.
I also have scionwood of a few Apricot, Peach, and Cherry varieties but these are from trees with a disease issue you would need to discuss with me.
The "sticks" I collect are about 8" long. This is long enough to yield 2 (or occasionally 1 or 3) scions with 2 buds per scion after you trim off a bottom bud, a top bud, and other less desirable portions. Amounts I am offering of each variety range from a couple of sticks to a couple dozen sticks.
I do not charge money for the scionwood. I will however ask you questions about your intended use. Often people don't have a clear understanding of how to best use the scionwood I offer.
You may respond to this offer via Craigslist. And please include your name and a real email address where I can reach you. Thanks. WR
