Give your home some architectural details with these beautiful hand built fluted columns. These are not meant to be structural. They are meant to be used for decorative accents and to add charm or character to a home. They were painted a farmhouse white and then given the look of distressing. I have put a short ladder over the top which one could put any size of ladder between the 2 columns and hang a chandelier from it or add tin on top of the ladder to make a shelf or a use a board between the columns. These columns make great decorator pieces as one can do so much with them! I forgot to take the finished measurements but will try and figure them out here off of when I built these. The columns are square and the main section from top to bottom without the trim measured 91/4" by 9 1/4". I know that because that is what I cut the top and bottom pieces of wood that I sealed the columns up with. and then I put trim around the top and bottom which was approx. 1/2" thick if that. And then I cut another piece of wood to trim finish out the very top which makes the very top of each column measure approximately 11 3/4 by 11 3/4" at the widest points. Figuring it all out the height should measure approximately. 98 1/2" tall. These are approximate dimensions from what I did when I built them.
