We are a boutique hotel in Ashland with two restaurants and are looking for a hard-working, well-disciplined executive sous chef to join our team and take the lead at Chateaubriand 36.

We are a kitchen of professionals who support each other in culinary creativity. You would be directly involved in helping to run the kitchen at Chateaubriand, with supervision from the Exec Chef.

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our team. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. Your expertise in fine dining and your ability to lead a team will contribute to the exceptional dining experience we offer our guests.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef in developing and implementing menu concepts, ensuring they align with the restaurants’ ideals and standards.
Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper cooking techniques and adhere to health and safety regulations.
Assist in the management of inventory, including ordering and stock control, to minimize waste and maintain cost efficiency.
Ensure the kitchen operates smoothly during service hours, maintaining a calm and organized work environment.
Collaborate with the front-of-house team to coordinate orders, special requests, and timing to provide exceptional guest service.
Monitor food production and presentation, ensuring consistency and adherence to the restaurant's quality standards.
Continuously evaluate and improve food recipes, cooking techniques, and kitchen procedures.
Assist in menu development, including creating seasonal specials and recommending changes to existing dishes.
Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, following local health department regulations.
Help to maintain food and labor costs.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant, preferably with a focus on fine dining cuisine.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavors.
Creativity and ability to develop innovative and visually appealing dishes.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality in every dish.
Proficient in kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation.
In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Education and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Culinary degree or related certification preferred.

Pay depends on experience, but we are starting between 49K and 55K plus tips with room for advancement and bonuses.
