Job Title: Level II Structures Mechanic (Aviation & General Mechanical)
Location: Central Point, OR
Direct Labor Rate: Up to $36.00 – $50.00/ hour
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM; Friday, 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Night/swing shift, 48 hours per week.
Position Purpose
Performs maintenance, fabrication, modification, and repair of complex structural and mechanical systems. While this role focuses on aircraft components per industry standards, we highly encourage candidates with strong backgrounds in automotive, industrial, or general mechanical repair to apply. You will work independently on intermediate tasks with minimal supervision, bridging your existing mechanical skills into the aviation field.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, and modify structural components, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical assemblies (aviation-specific training provided for candidates transitioning from other mechanical industries).
Perform sheet metal fabrication, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly using pneumatic tools and close-tolerance dimensions.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering dispositions to develop and execute repairs.
Install specialty fasteners (e.g., Hi-Lok) and perform precision riveting, drilling, bend reduction, and rivet pattern work.
Troubleshoot mechanical discrepancies during normal operations and urgent field situations.
Document work in logs, records, and systems; maintain clean, safe work areas per company procedures.
Achieve and maintain qualifications for assigned tasks; participate in professional development and company-sponsored training programs to close any aviation-specific knowledge gaps.
Provide technical guidance to Level I technicians and comply with core company values.
Required Qualifications
4-9 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, repair, and/or metal fabrication. (Experience can be from automotive, heavy equipment, manufacturing, industrial repair, or aviation).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, performing drilling/riveting, and general metal fabrication.
Familiarity with hand and special tools (e.g., torque wrenches, micrometers, sheet metal brakes/shears).
Ability to work in team/field environments with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and professionalism.
Preferred Skills (Not required to apply)
Prior aircraft, aerospace, or aviation experience (e.g., A&P certification, OV-10 Bronco, helicopters).
Knowledge of FAA regulations and aviation safety directives.
Specific experience with Hi-Lok fastener installation, borescope inspections, or aircraft engine troubleshooting.
Interview Process
Video/phone screen.
Onsite interview.
Skills test: Basic bend reduction, blueprint reading, bend radius, rivet patterns, and fastener installation. (Note: This is used strictly to gauge your current skill level and identify training needs, not as a pass/fail assessment).
