This is $1040 below NADA guides value. This sailboat is extremely clean and in excellent condition. Sail inventory in very good condition: 2 mains, regular and storm jibs, 150 genoa. Trailer with excellent tires, bearing buddies and spare tire/carrier. Cabin sleeps 5 (crowded, but I have camped twice for 3 day sails with 3 other adults), enclosed porta potty, galley with small cooler, sink, new faucet, portable table, countertop, and lots of under seat storage.
The 1997 8 horse Honda had a recent water pump and lower end service, sips gas, and runs quietly. An installed VHF is fed by a 9 foot removable antenna atop the 32 foot mast near the Windex gauge. A brand new Garmin Striker 4 fish finder/GPS (cabin-mounted on a swing away) is visible from the helm. Steering is made easier with a snap on extension tiller with cover. A new deep cycle marine battery, 120 amp hour, group 31 is easily accessible under the galley counter; the boat has been wired for a 2 battery system. An installed solar panel on the foredeck feeds the electrical system.
Both standing and running rigging are in good shape. The hull is scratch free, waxed and buffed. Gelcoat is excellent throughout. A nice touch is detachable lifelines in the cockpit (good safety net for kids). A huge lazarette under the captain's seat houses the fuel tank and provides great storage. It has a fan and is vented. The cabin roof pops up when at anchor with better than 6' of headroom. An isinglass/canvas enclosure fits over the coachroof to block the wind and cold. Upholstery is complete and in very good shape (cabin cushions are being professionally redone with 3" premium foam). Cabin light is LED.
MacGregors sail with 1200 pounds of water ballast, drawn in upon launch and emptied again on the pull out ramp. That means you're pulling only 2150 pounds of boat and trailer down the road. MacGregors point high, sail well, and have boat speed of 7.5 MPH. For racing enthusiasts, Mac 26s have a PHRF rating of 210: better speed than a Catalina 22 or 25, an Ericson 26 or 27, a Cal 25, or a Hunter 26. They also have flotation and will remain afloat with holes drilled in the bottom. I own a sister ship, identical to this one except a year older, and have sailed safely throughout the San Juans, to Victoria BC and the Gulf Islands, and 40 miles offshore to Santa Cruz Island from Ventura, CA.
I have done everything possible to make this boat turnkey, since I know it inside and out. I have made both safety and cosmetic improvements to ensure that your time is spent enjoying sailing the boat and not having to work on it. Basic NADA Guides value as equipped, is $8,840.
EXTRA items included with the boat are: 3 sails (very good condition), mast raising system, extended cockpit lifelines, fenders, Magma SS BBQ, anchor/rode/line, sail cover, 2 winch cranks, mounted $450 VHF/antenna, mounted fishfinder/GPS (new), spare tire/carrier, bearing buddies, extra Honda parts. Purchased new, these items total over $4000, but are included in sale price.
