A review from previous tenant, Kate: "......I loved living here. The well designed Studio is cozy, comfortable, healing and attractive. Becca is a kind, compassionate landlady who honestly went above and beyond....." (see more reviews below)
The Studio is fully furnished with all that you need !! Your host Becca along with Kodi, a mini Australian shepherd mix, both warmly welcome you to the waterfall garden studio. Nestled in a quiet, friendly neighborhood, off the beaten path but blocks to downtown Ashland, surrounded by gardens (in season), the studio offers mountain views, artistic sensibility and serenity.
This stylish, well-designed, comfortable suite has all that you need: High-speed wireless, a/c, kitchenette, microwave, induction burners, toaster oven, storage in the unit and some in garage, all bath, bed and kitchen linens, washer/dryer, shared overflow frig in garage included. South and east windows invite the sunlight and views in and the fenced stone patio brightens with various plants and the fig tree’s shade in summer. The garden waterfall's soothing splashes complement other flower gardens.
The accommodation is just blocks from downtown with excellent restaurants and theaters, the Ashland Food Co-op (one of the best on the west coast), galleries, Lithia Park and Mountain Park among others, and short drives to wilderness hikes and skiing.
Rates are: $1295 month which includes utilities; a reasonable cleaning fee is added depending on the length of stay. Small well behaved dogs are welcomed with approval and an additional fee. Large furniture cannot be removed as the garage lacks storage.
E-mail Becca with a little about yourself , your reasons for wanting to rent, info about your (small) pet (if applicable) and an idea of the duration of your stay. Long term tenants encouraged. The studio is rented by the month and currently is available from January 1, 2026 on. Before occupancy, the Studio will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. NO smokers please.
A FEW TESTIMONIALS FROM SATISFIED GUESTS:
"I stayed sight unseen in this beautiful studio when I needed a place and was out of state. Rebecca was easy to communicate with accommodating, and super supportive in all my dealings throughout my time in there. The quiet, peaceful studio is in a great neighborhood within Ashland and only a 10 minute walk from downtown. It did not feel small and the furnishings and amenities made it comfortable and just what I needed for my stay, not to mention, all the wonderful neighbors I met. I highly recommend this studio as it was a powerful portal into Ashland and a great jumping off place for the rest of my time there." Tim, August - November, 2008
"The studio is private and quiet and provides a very peaceful atmosphere.....the price, reasonable. It is equipped with everything needed. Rebecca is a wonderful host and kept me well stocked with delicious vegetables from her organic garden, which was a great unexpected bonus."Adrienne, 2009
Ms. McLennan is a charming landlord full of positive energy. The space she offers is beautiful, well-lit, and the location to Ashland's lively downtown can't be beat. Attending UBI was the greatest educational engagement of my life thus far, and the stay with Rebecca complimented the experience delightfully." Bill, 2009
"Cozy lodging, congenial host. You won't find a better accommodation in Ashland." Mitch, 2009
"My husband and I rented from Rebecca (while) we were both recovering from surgery. We had a wonderful 2 months stay; everything was close and quiet and I look forward to staying there again." Terry and John, June, 2009
"I have loved staying at the studio. It is a lovely cottage and I very much appreciate not only the aesthetics and the comfort, but also your kind and gracious heart." Leslie 2010
"As a PhD candidate, I've stayed at the studio two different times for a total of nearly five months. The location is wonderful -- very easy access to the bike path, stores, and the Shakespeare theater. The studio has big windows, is filled with light and when the sunflowers are in bloom, the birds are abundant. The neighborhood is quiet, clean and safe and a very pleasant place to go for a run or walk. Rebecca is adorable and a great person but very discrete and respectful of the guest's privacy. You will certainly feel cozy at this home-like place and enjoy a great time in beautiful Ashland!" Juliana (PhD candidate, Brazil) 2011
"My husband and I rented Rebecca's studio for 5 months until we found a home to buy. The studio is totally equipped with everything you could possibly need and very convenient to be able to do laundry and have internet access. The location is perfect as it is a short walk to the downtown Ashland area and the Shakespearian Festival yet very quiet and private and close to many great restaurants and groceries. We truly enjoyed staying there while in the process of looking for our permanent home."
Wayne and Lynda, 2012
"Thanks for brightening my stay here in Ashland! Your place is lovely as well as your town. If I ever come back, I'll be sure to contact you!" Josh, UBI Student 2012
I highly recommend Rebecca's studio. My husband and I have been staying there for quite awhile now. We are often in Ashland on business and consistently we go back to her studio, which is so lovely and cozy. I cannot forget to mention the beautiful garden that she keeps with so much love. It is such a great experience to wake up in the morning looking at the beautiful flowers. (Maria Miri, Ascari Custom Bicycles, New York, NY, Oct. 2012)
I moved from Southern CA to Oregon by myself the first week of January 2014. I found Becca's cottage listing on Craiglist over the holidays from CA. When I called Becca regarding her advertised cottage that was available for rent, she greeted me with warmth and open arms. I was especially grateful for her warmth and care, as I was coming to Oregon all by myself. Having moved to Oregon with just what could fit in my car, I appreciated Becca's generosity in getting me anything I ever needed that would make my stay more comfortable that was not already present in her cottage. When I arrived in Oregon, Becca's cottage exceeded every expectation I'd had. Her place is absolutely LOVELY. Her entire property has a beautiful energy that I found to be healing and restorative. Becca was never intrusive -- she is just the perfect hostess. I will never forget my first home I had upon moving to Oregon. ~Heather L., March 2014
A lovely studio and lovely people. I stayed here while looking for a house to buy. Becca was so friendly and generous and respectful of my privacy. Gary was friendly and quiet and so helpful. It's clear that Becca put a lot of thought into the studio design. In fact, I like the kitchen area so much that I'm going to have the same person do the tile when I remodel my kitchen. The studio is clean and quiet and within easy walking distance to downtown. Highly recommended. Mary Ann, Spring, 2014
Walk into a room filled with space and light that still has that feeling of "homeyness". This studio has all of the necessities and some added extras that make you instantly feel relaxed and at ease. There's plenty of storage, and it's been the perfect gathering spot for little dinner parties for our friends. It's so close to all of the best parts of Ashland - the park, downtown, the co-op, and with Rebecca as your landlord, you'll know all of the best places to go because she is so helpful and willing to share her favorite spots! We are so incredibly sad to be leaving this wonderful little home and town, and we hope that everyone that stays here gets to experience the magic we did! A & G
This vacation location was an open experience that started with the gracious and accommodating hostess, Becca, and co-host, Gary. While eating, we looked out on the waterfall garden, a space consistently complimented by those who passed by (and several yellow finches!!). We took daily walks to various delightful locations including great coffee houses, the artistic railroad district, Shakespeare Green Shows in the downtown area and the enchanting Lithia Park. Our evenings were open to a wide sky and panoramic views of the Ashland hills. The hills would turn various hues of pink and purple as we watched spectacular sunsets. Truly a worthy experience!! Mr. and Mrs. Michael Holmes, June-Sept., 2014
The cottage "Waterfall Home" I have been staying in beginning November, 2016 has been wonderful. The studio has a very peaceful atmosphere and is very well decorated and sparkling clean. I feel very well taken care of by Rebecca and Gary that live here in separate dwellings on the same property. They give me my space, but are always there if I need anything with their open arms!
I would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to relocate or is vacationing in Ashland! Shema, February, 2015
I found the Waterfall Garden studio on Craigslist this past April (2015), reserved it early and I am so glad that I did! Becca is more than a quiet, gracious host and artist. She has thought of everything that a wandering traveler might need. I did not have to bring anything with me because the studio is completely furnished with beautiful linens, kitchen supplies, utensils - everything a light but weary traveler needs to simplify and yet still function efficiently. I needed both rest and a comfortable place to think clearly while I searched for a permanent home. (This) safe, quiet, centrally located (studio) in a beautiful sunny neighborhood was perfect for the task I had at hand. It has been a blessing to stay at Becca's Waterfall Garden Studio. Leigh, August - mid-December, 2015
I arrived at Becca's furnished sweet studio and was astounded by the light, the views, the waterfall garden with it's beautiful flowers, and the ambience of the place. It's furnished with great style and I felt immediately at home. It is accessible to downtown, which was the reason that I wanted to be here. I can walk to the co-op in ten minutes and to Lithia Park in fifteen. And the neighborhood is the sweetest. It has been home for almost a year while looking for a home to buy. I have been very happy living here. Becca is warm, caring and has been very respectful of my privacy. The perfect match of beauty, quiet, intermingled with a sense of belonging. My gratitude is profound. Lucky to have found this piece of heaven in the middle of a most special and extraordinary place that Ashland is. Nitsa ~ May, 2017
We were so fortunate to find Becca and her lovely Phelps Street Studio rental when we moved to Ashland. In fact, a three-month stay quickly turned into a year and a half! Becca is an extremely responsive and responsible landlady who makes sure that her guests are well cared for and enjoy their privacy. With her peaceful energy, she creates a serene, tranquil living environment and a nice sense of community - we were encouraged to plant a vegetable garden near the fig tree last summer (and the harvest was huge)! The Studio is ideally located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, a close walk to downtown, the Coop and nearby parks. The expansive mountain views from inside are truly sensational and make you feel like you are on retreat. To top it off, the vibrant flowers and outdoor waterfall are a feast for the senses in warmer months. Our dog, Finn, equally loved his home, the backyard and playtime with Becca's sweet dog, Kodi. We highly recommend the Phelps Street Studio for any length stay in Ashland! ~ Kristen, Daniela and Finn, Oct., 2017 - Feb. 2019.
I have lived in Becca's charming Studio for almost a year and in Ashland for a year and a half. It has been a very satisfying experience. I loved living here! The well-designed Studio is cozy, comfortable, healing and attractive. The water feature out front is a treat in the warm weather. The garden patio, fig tree and my neighbor in the Tiny House kept me content and relaxed. Becca is a kind, compassionate landlady who honestly went above and beyond to help me out when I had a health crisis. It was so nurturing to be helped and cared about. I am certain we will be friends after I move. If you are looking for a friendly, kind, sweet, efficient, easy place to stay in Ashland, I can highly recommend the Waterfall Studio. It is easy to get to downtown, North Mountain Park and Bear Creek. Kate ~ December, 2019
Rebecca's space is darling. I lived there for two years and found her to be kind and attentive to my needs as a renter. Full-size washer and dryer are available as well as full-size refrigerator shared with others, yet ample room for your use.
The space is surrounded by gogeous gardens that Rebecca lovingly tends. The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors friendly. There is a park just a couple of blocks from the Studio that is family friendly, yet peaceful and conducive to meditation or easy walks with plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Rebecca was respectful of my privacy and always responsive to questions. She'll go the extra mile for you. You'll love it here. Perfect spot to rest and restore and enjoy the beauty of Ashland. G - August, 2020 - Sept. 2022
"As a (medical) traveler doing a 13 week contract, this was the perfect little Studio to live in. Becca is very wonderful and accommodating, willing to work on meeting your needs. I definitely recommend stayng here! I would stay if I was extending my contract. (I liked) the private bath and kitchen and shared laundry was never an issue. Kodi comes out to say hi to you while you do laundry which makes the chore less lame. Parking is right outside the door you enter and is generally always available. The location is great! The views are stunning and it's very close to downtown Ashland which has many wonderful restaurants and things to do. This property is just outside of the 20 minute call back window for Providence Medford Medical Center (PMMC) but the call there is generally pretty chill. At the very least you'll have a good idea whether you'll be called back in or not." Ryan, Traveling Nurse, Feb., 2023
I stayed at Rebecca's place for some months and had a wonderful time there. Her Studio is incredibly beautiful and spacious, clean and quiet. She planted beautiful flowers, fruit trees, vegetables at the front and backyard. Most amazing thing was her peaceful stone waterfall in front of the window view. All her appliances are very new models. Grocery shopping and downtown Ashland are close. I recommend to stay at her place if you ever visit or plan to stay in Ashland. Thanks you for everything, Rebecca. You're the most wonderful landlord I ever had. Thank you for your kindness. Wah (Ruby), July, 2023
Becca’s Ashland studio is a place for healing, peace and privacy. The energy is wonderful and the views spectacular. One feels completely safe in the cozy artistic studio. 🥰It has been an absolute blessing! Be sure
to have small treats for Kodi boy. Thank you beautiful Becca. Lisa, Nov. 2023
I enjoyed my 4 month stay at the stylish and cozy Phelps Studio located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood. ….
I have felt inspired and refreshed by the great views of the surrounding hills, the ongoing community events and the comfortable bed …..
Rebecca has been a delight. As a welcoming, respectful and responsive host, she has provided thoughtful recommendations and shared her dear sense of humor. ….Deb, 2024
I love all the flowers in the patio area and the sound of water in the fountain. This is a nice, cozy, little apartment, tastefully decorated. A good location close to downtown, shops and happenings. I have enjoyed my stay. Linda, 2025
Becca's Garden Studio does not disappoint! It is incredibly easy to be highly functional in Ashland due to Becca’s authentic care and thought. She offers
a spacious, light, airy and even cozy Studio with a lovely welcoming fig tree courtyard to your front door. Not once did I say to myself; darn, I wish I had a…….or I wish I had more space. It is set up in a way that allows me to function efficiently, while my creative wings unfold: room to dance, do yoga, paint, and sew. The ability to control my privacy and connection to the outside world is, well, impressive. Nichole, July/August 2025
